Ask a Doctor - This week's question
Can I wear compression socks for pregnancy?
Answer: Yes! Leg swelling is common during pregnancy. We recommend using 20-30 mmhg compression socks to control foot/ankle/leg swelling and prevent varicose veins. These socks may also be called athletic compression socks or just "compression socks".--
Ask a Doctor - Last week's question
I'm a Vegan. How do I get enough Omega-3 without taking Fish Oil?
Answer: Good question! It's important to get your omega's during pregnancy. Getting enough Prenatal DHA or other Omega-3 Fatty Acids can be especially tough if you're a vegan or vegetarian. That's because, as you said, fish oils are out of the question. Luckily there are products made with Algae Oil. These contain the same Omega 3 DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) that's critical to brain development in infants. At the same time, they are 100% vegan and can be taken by anyone.
